“In 2015 I stitched together 5,000 post-consumer plastic packages donated by my community into a monumental "plastic tomb" that I called Blister Pact. Ever since that installation came down I've been trying to devise new ways to reuse and reinterpret the left-over component parts. In the original installation, the packaging material's simple and elegant transparency defined the overall aesthetic. In a new body of work the plastic material is treated more like a canvas - as a surface to by marked up, manipulated, and embellished through a combination of painting and collage. In this particular piece, LED lights were included in order to accentuate the depth of field and dramatize the pieces otherworldly presence.”
